so, it's done. it needs a sleeve on it, but it's done. i spent the afternoon stitching down the pokey outy round borders (there were 16 of them, it took a while) and as the top layer is canvas, it was pretty hard going. my previously poorly stitching finger is seriously perforated now. but luckily i didn't bleed on it. but it's all worth it! next stop, birmingham nec. do let me know if you happen to be going - i'd love to know what you think of it 'in the flesh'!
(and please excuse the fact the photo title is twig, i was over-excited when i wrote my post. it's of course called portholes. how could i possibly have forgotten the whole gloryhole/porthole debacle?!)

Holy shizzle...that is mindblowingly mindblowing. Shame we're not going anywhere near NEC, i'd love to see it in the flesh.
Now go and rest that poor finger...
That is GORGEOUS!!
So beautiful.
I love it!
This is incredible.
Seriously amazing, and I love it, I love the white/cream with the quilted stitch and the bursts of colour.
Is this at the quilt festival thing? I think I am going so look forward it!
Oh it's gorgeous - how many hours of work went into it? Hope your finger is better soon :)
Thou art brilliant.
Is there a prize? You should definitely win.
Lu, corny comment coming up, but it truly is very beautiful, I am in awe. I would love to see it. It inspires me... maybe one day.

That is such a gorgeous quilt. It is one of my favorite ones that I've seen in a long time!
What a brill quilt - love the portholes idea, and the quilting is superb. Nice one!
Just found your blog and I have to say, your work is amazing. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing.

That is the best quilt I have ever seen!!
Lu you are amazin. I really want to try and get to the NEC to see it in person. x
Good grief woman. It's a stunner, truly. Why 'twig' though?
actually - i got confused! this one isn't called twig, this one is portholes. it was the delirium of getting it finished...derr....
This is truly beautiful and very original. Battle scars are worth it here. Well done! x
AMAZING! Great job!
