best free thing ever? Has to be my mum's clothes cupboard from when she was a little kid. It's the perfect size for my bedroom, and I love knowing that she used it when she was small.

the thing that stands out most is being a young mom with a husband in graduate school - and three kids under age 5 (a set of twins will do that), and having little money. once out for a run, i found $20 on the side of the road. sounds silly, only $20, but i was so excited!!! i don't remember clearly, but i think we went out to eat with it!

congratulations on your line - i really love your work!

Thanks for the chance to win!

I think the best free thing we got was a full set of cutlery from my MIL, apparently it was 'old fashioned' but I like it and we use it every day. (Yes we know how to use cutlery yay!)I also won a giveaway at Katy's blog years ago and I still use the Tesco Cath Kidston Christmas shopper I won. :)

My best free thing ever is a £100 voucher towards a holiday that I won on a blog giveaway!! Second to that are the fabric freebies my friends are kind enough to share ;)

I once won a layer cake from @quiltdad when he was running Bloggers Blockapalooza. That was awesome!

I suppose when you sit down and consider it, over time I've been fortunate enough to 'score' many times. Probably the best, though I didn't consider that it was at the time, was the first win/score I can recall - I was a child and won a raffle prize at a fund raising event for the flute band my Dad played in - a big box of groceries - though I didn't benefit directly from sweets or a toy, the whole family benefited from the mix of goodies in the box

Mmm... I think the most surprising one was a big bunch of DS fabrics last summer from 2 different people - I wasn't expecting it and it was brilliant!
The newest one is my friend's book that I've received today. I'm so very touched that she sent me a copy! :)

I think some of the best things I've won have been from blogs - I never win anything in my 'real' life, so it's nice that on blogs that luck is a little different. Also, I'm good at finding furniture for free on the side of the road. I've gotten two dressers that way, which I've fixed up. It's fun to find that piece you've been looking for for free, and then to make it your own!
Thanks so much for the chance to win. All the prizes look lovely!

I just found a toddler shirt at a thrift shop for one dollar! The kicker is that it was made with Heather Ross Goldfish fabric! Eeep! I decided to pay it foward and mailed it to an internet friend as a suprise. It was a thrill to find the shirt, but seeing the shirt in use was even better!

Since I've rarely been a winner of anything in my life, 4 yrs ago when I won $643 from a 25 cent slot machine after only putting in $1.50 I was certain that there was some sort of mistake and surely they casino would take it all back. I'm not a gambler. We go to a casino about once every 3 yrs, I take $20 and when that is gone I'm done. When I won that money I still had $18.50 left!
When I first found the quilt blogs 2 months ago I entered a giveaway for a Veranda layer cake at Cluck Cluck Sew and I won that which was much more exciting to me than the money at the casino.

The best thing for free I have had was for a gloomy room! I asked on 'Freecycle' if anyone had any old mirrors on offer as it would lighten up the room and was GIVEN an amazing antique mirror that the lady hadn't got round to restoring and it was in her way!!!!

It couldn't go in the gloomy room, it had to go in pride of place above the fireplace and everyone who comes round comments on how lovely it is. I love it.

When I was a grade school child (over 45 years ago), there was a call-in program on the radio, with one caller winning a cribbage set - ME! I was so excited, having never won anything before. My dad was a little less excited, as he had to drive to the radio station and pick it up. Upon returning, I was surprised to find him putting a nail in the wall to hang it in a prominent place in the den - where it still is today. He loved the beautiful graphics on the board. I would take it down, play some, and return it to it's place of honor. My email: jdm@cableone.net. Love Summerville - and your mugs!

Won a set of Enclyopedia Brittanica when I was in lower school. Was forced to buy and wear a pair of sensible shoes by my dad (vs the oh so cute ones I coveted) and while checking out at the shoe store, we filled out a card to drop into a bowl. Later we got a call that we won - that set of bright red enclyopedias decorated the bookshelves in the den of the family home for 35 years. The only thing I've ever won!

When I was first back at work after having DS I was on the road between two customers & missing my boy. I realised that amongst the pile of junk in the trailer in front of me was not only an old vacuum cleaner, a tidy-dry and a lawn mower was a cute rocking horse! At the next roundabout the trailer turned towards the "recycling centre" or tip, so on a whim I followed it! Sure enough they turned into the tip and I hopped out of the car to cheekily ask if I could have the rocking horse rather than it going to landfill! I brought it home and gave it a good scrub and a new tail and mane made from a mop. Both my children played with that horse until it was out grown and I passed it to another family :-)

4 years ago when my daughter was around 10 months we had professional pictures taken of her we really wanted the huge image of her that was printed on glass but it was a fortune. About a year ago we got a phonecall from the photographer who used that very image on glass as his front of house he said that the company no longer make that line so he couldnt advertise it anymore did we want it for free, err yes at £650 a pop we did! it now hangs pride of place by our front door and always strikes a conversation with the postmen!

I won tickets to three different rock concerts in one summer on a local radio station. I had to think fast on my feet and give different friend and family names and details on call #2 and Call #3 because the same person is only allowed to win once every 90 days. This was in a three week time span...

I've not ever been that lucky since....

It used to hang in our dining room but is currently in my sewing room!

I don't do very well at winning things! When I was about eight years old I won the prize in the Easter raffle, it was a rather delightful stuffed goose made of pink gingham fabric. I thought it was bloody fantastic, my mum not so much, she made it disappear, I still don't know where to. Hopefully I will fare better in your giveaway which is off the scale better than a pink gingham goose!

Best free thing ever, apart from 4 of my dogs has to be the three month first class unlimited rail ticket I won about 6 years ago. When I was a child-- maybe 6 or 7?-- we were at the County Fair, and Dad told us that we could choose one game to play. I was drawn to a display that had varying levels of sparkling crystal and beautiful dishes slowly revolving in different directions.. I spotted a small ceramic "Mary Had a Little Lamb" plate on one of the upper levels. Dad warned me that it would be pretty hard to actually get my nickle to land on that small plate, but I really wanted it... So, I closed my eyes, wished REALLY hard, and tossed that nickle. I opened my eyes just in time to see that coin hit the plate, roll round and round, and finally fall-- making me the most excited girl at the Fair! :-) I've won other prizes since then, but that one will always stand out as one of my most favorite! :-)

My biggest score was catching my husband (who I met on a blind date)! He's a wonderful husband and father and works hard so I can stay home and do all the creative things I like to do!

Would have to be my first sewing machine (Bernina Nova 900) and serger (BabyLock). It helps to have a father in law that runs a sewing machine shop...

Thanks!

I won some embroidery blocks from Kelly at Charming Chatter and it has opened up a whole new world for me.
