i'm honoured to be part of the moda designer blog hop this time around...the idea is that each day for 5 days in december, 4 or 5 moda designers will each post a new quilt block pattern and favourite recipe, and here's mine!
|
making the under over block |
|
framed block on my christmas mantel |
introducing the 'under over' quilt block - so called because it reminded me of woven ribbons...the inspiration for it actually came from a paperchase box i bought to carry all the little bits and pieces i made for the moda stand in houston, so rather fitting i thought. (i'd link to it, but they don't appear to have it in their online shop)
|
pretty treeeeeee |
i've had a lovely weekend clearing the decks then filling them up again with christmasy goodness...and yes, i'm really anal about doing the christmas tree, red, white, silver, and just an occasion flash of gold.
and after all that hard work, there's nothing nicer than sitting down with a bowl of still-warm 'up and over' pudding with a scoop of ice cream - delicious!
|
up and over pudding recipe, yum! |
UPDATE: for those of you struggling to properly print the recipe and block, right click on each image & download and save to your computer, then print as normal. sorry for the problems!
be sure to hop over to the other blogs today for lots more quilt block patterns and recipes, or check out the
this moda blog post to find out the full schedule.
today's other participants are:
kansas troubles
figtree quilts
cosmo cricket
liz scott
so have fun and check out some new quilty peeps! (especially joanna of fig tree & julie of cosmo cricket - they were my houston homies)

Lovely tree! Who needs a traditional one when this is so darned cute? Ours will go up today.
The pudding sounds wonderful and your block really does look like woven ribbons. I have to ask what demarara sugar might be. Anything comparable here in the States?

Nevermind! I googled it! YUM!
Thanks for the block and recipe... the recipe seems similar to a pudding cake I make.

Enjoyed reading your blog. Your tree looks very pretty and festive!
Thank you for the block pattern and the recipe.
I don't quilt; however, I do make tote bags, walker bags, and wheelchair bags or my group, World of Charity Stitching and I would share the fabric (if I win) with some of the members who make the lap quilts for us-the quilts are donated to a senior citizen center and a domestic violence shelter.
Thanks,

Love that fabric...when and where can we get it?
Thanks for the block and recipe
What a lovely elegant tree.
Are you a bit overwhelmed at all the love flowing your way, Lucie? This is Dianne (Oklahoma) giving you a shout (That's southern USA for HOWDY. Oh, wait, that's Southern USA for Hello - but with more love.) I love the quilt block on the mantel idea. I want to have more quilts incorporated in my life, and I LOVE the Christmas Season (Happy Birthday, Jesus!). But, we never have our table cleared off - so no table runner. And there's only so much wall space! But, we have TWO mantels! Also, by framing it, it stays nice in storage. You are so cleaver! PS: Are you having fun being part of the Moda family - even BEFORE your wonderful line officially comes out? Anticipation!!! Love you - Blessings. -- Dianne
The recipe looks scrumptious and so does your block. Looking forward to trying both.

I enjoyed reading through your posting. I need to say that it was the 1st article on your blog I genuinely enjoyed and in which I had a feeling of agreement, know what I mean? In any case, keep the posting and I’ll be back once again.
