then there were two

so much is going on here, but for various reasons i can't show you anything...this does not sit well with me, i promise you - i like to show you images hot off the press :( they are all exciting things, one of which being choosing the colour ways & patterns from fabric samples for my next moda line which was one of the most thrilling & satisfying jobs EVER...i expected it to be quite a tricky task as it means whittling down at least 60 prints to 30, but actually, it was surprisingly quick. i had help from sam, who despite being more of a farmer than a chooser of fabrics, did a spectacular job helping - i have a tendency to let my heart rule my head, but he's much more pragmatic...this approach did mean that there were several designs in colours that i *completely* loved which didn't make the cut, simply because they didn't 'help' the collection as a whole. it was a really interesting exercise and i'm now waiting for the UPS person to pick up the samples so they can make their way back to the moda fabrics office to await their transformation into yardage, yay! i can give you one clue: colourful. and that's all you're getting ;)

it feels strange talking about the 'next' lot of fabrics when summersville is only just in shops here - but it's also an insight into how much time goes into planning a line - although i haven't got a release date yet, the next collection probably will be out spring 2013.

i'm also working on a new improv quilt, also top secret, but as i glance over to the design wall where it is hanging in piece, i'm itching to get stitching!

one thing i can show you is the finished mini 'zag zig' - i'm loving the two pieces hanging together...

You are teasing us
I promise I'll try to be patient - more time to use up existing fabrics before buying some of your delicious ones - then I don't feel so guilty

My daughters spotted some fat quarters of summersville in a patchwork shop near my parents' house - they miraculously found their way into my basket :-)

I am happy to hear that you will have another line coming out next year and I love your improve quilts! Thank you again for the portholes class at the retreat, I am thinking of working a porthole or two into my next project.
