being pollyanna

i've had a bit of a crappy day today work wise, but i decided to look for things about the day to be glad about. one of them is this amazing vintage fabric found at the 'help the aged' charity shop in town. there were 3 pieces marked at £2 a piece and each of them is at least a metre wide by 1.5 metres long. i don't know what i'll use it for yet, but i shall add it to my vintage fabric finds bag (much of which was given to me by wonderful anna) and one day i'll make the most amazing quilt. this was one of those items that screamed out to me from across the shop - you know the ones that make you elbow people in the face to get to? well, that was me this morning. i'm getting my comeuppance now though, as i'm a little bit meh. so what do you do when you feel a bit meh? make a pineapple upside down cake of course. which is in the oven as i type. another reason to be glad. what makes you glad?

Finding great things in charity shops always makes me smile, as does baking (though I haven't made much recently as I was trying to lose weight). But what's really cheering me up at the moment is our impending move to the Highlands of Scotland for my husband's new job. In two weeks' time, we'll be on our way to catch a ferry and start the long trek to Dornoch - yay!

It must be the time of year... and the weather. Makes days a slog sometimes. Today my little Tinker has been poorly, which has made him sad. Seeing him chirp up and start to smile an hour before bath time has made me feel glad today! Enjoy the cake!

It looks remarkably like that quilt you just finished! If only there was a vertical offset between the columns. Nice find.

Ha ha ha... I love those elbow in the face moments... I do the same thing, thinking if I don't get to eyed up treasure ASAP someone else will nab it in the next few seconds! Hilarious!

That vintage fabric and an upside down pineapple cake would cheer me up no worries! :D

Wow what a fab find! That would make me very glad as would a little slice of pineapple upside down cake. When I feel a bit 'meh' I usually try to head off on my bike for a spin along the seafront, that normally does the trick!♥

Gosh, what lovely fabric! Can't wait to see what you make with it. Taking photos usually gets me out of a funk. And I need regular injections of colour and light. c.x
