i've been super super busy lately, but have been sneaking in a little bit of time playing with ink on white fabric. i've got a stack of it cut so when the mood takes me i can quickly get on when inspiration takes...
i've been particularly inspired with the idea of watercolour type prints so armed with some watered down printing ink, i set to work using tools i had to hand. the first few i made using a paintbrush and lots of colour...i think i was trying to channel my inner
bluebell gray but ended up with something a bit more tie dyed t-shirt...so i ditched the multicolour and kept it simple, stupid. & i loved the simplicity of the result.
next up, was playing with some off cuts of cardboard roll (i suppose a loo roll inner would work, but this is quite a nice thick cardboard but with a small diameter)- simply dipping them in the ink and printing them on to the fabric. simple and low tech, but infinitely satisfying!

in action with some fabric pals! |
i've used watered down ink, but any kind of fabric paint would work. it needs to be about as thick as single cream to get a decent print but without over soaking the base cloth. if anyone has a play, i'd love to hear about it and see some images!
Nothing to show you but loving yours! Very pretty and fun!
