patch fabrics

loved this!

jenny, christine, debbie and paula all engrossed

the lovely tracey and lisa

tracey's amazing blocks. she was a total overachiever.
i couldn't go home without these. it would have been rude not to.
on friday, i managed to find my way to lowestoft (despite my complete lack of direction or faith in myself) it's britain's most easterly town doncha know. my destination was patch fabrics, a little gem of a shop, painted bright pink and full of delicious stuff. sadly, i was there to work, not play, although to be fair there was a lot of that too...
anyway, i taught my portholes technique, and it went really well. the ladies all embraced the method quickly and had a whale of a time, but we were all exhausted by the end of it (why is that?) they all went home with 4 completed blocks: circles, flowers, heart, & hexagon star. a very satisfying day's work, especially afterwards when i spent some money and nattered to claire and leanne. but more about leanne in another post - for she is also a screen printer, and oh my god, she is GOOD!!!

UPDATE: just to let you know i'm doing portholes at sew and so's in bungay, suffolk on saturday 8th september and i'm back at patch fabrics on friday september 14th doing an improv workshop. book now! x

Gah I can't believe I didn't see this workshop was on, this would have been a belter, - Portholes is the one class at the Retreat that I didn't do that I so so wish I had done ....

Never mind, if you do fix a date for LMQG I will come along to that one instead!!

Hi !

I just wanted to know if there is a way to learn how to do portholes without going all the way to England ? (online tutorial, magazine, book)
I would LOVE to know how but I cannot find a tutorial anywhere !
Thank you !
