it's beginning to feel...

...a *tiny* bit like christmas... i haven't got the tree up yet (yes, i know, gasp!) but as i've always got a vase of dead twigs on my mantlepiece i thought i'd give them a christmassy dressing with some decorations i've been faffing with - dead easy, dead simple, dead quick - i punched out some mirror card, old book pages and some vintage gift wrap that came free with a magazine, folded the shapes in half then glued 4 of them together to make a 3D effect. you can use loads of shapes, not just four, to make more 'spokes' if you like. i like the futuristic-y feel of the mirror card against the olde worldyness of the book pages & vintage wrap. because to me, nothing says christmas quite like a vase of dead twigs on the mantlepiece hung with a load of random christmas shapes.

Sometimes less is more… but I don't think things will stay like that for long… Sweet tho'...

These are lovely! No tree here yet, so still time to make some of these. You might fancy having a go at one of these stars http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/5-pointed-origami-star.html. I think I'm addicted! They aren't hard, just don't use paper that's too thick or too small to start off with (about 15-20cms is good). They come together like magic :)

No tree here at Chez LushEd yet either. Hope to change that soon. Must go dig the Christmas decoration suitcase out of the loft. Mmmmm, now there's a challenge LOL

what kind of punch do you have? I really like the idea of decs like these but the thought of cutting all those shapes out fills me with dread!
