for the first time in my life i'm not being last-minute-annie - i have actually made all my decorations for the holiday ornament swap. i've done nothing else of course - we move in around something like 5 weeks time and i haven't even thought about clearing out 11 years of accumulated shit. but it's okay because have made 10 cute felt ornaments. it's all relative isn't it?

swap 2008!

hurry, hurry! you've got until november 10th to sign up for the 3rd annual holiday ornament swap! last year i had a blast making my collage stars, this year i've already made some using my printed fabric with felt in a few different christmassy shapes that my hopefully my swap pals will like :) the above ornament was sent to me in last year's swap by tamara who has an etsy shop selling her gorgeous paper cut designs right here on etsy!

oh, this is so great...little packages arriving most days from foreign climes...it's a nice antidote to 2 years olds with hideous ear infections waking up screaming every, and i mean every, 20 minutes last night. anyway, i digress. today's little piece of folded yumminess has come from margretta de vries, and is totally gorgeous...thank you so much, margretta! apologies for the strangely shaped pic; it's hard to get a shot of the tree without the rest of the crap in the background :)

this beautiful, beautiful paper cut ornament came today all the way from australia, and i don't think i could be more thrilled with it. my photo does not do it justice, but it was the best i could do in the failing light. firstly, it's a paper cut of a bird in a tree and each side has two little pears painstakingly hand cut by the wonderfully talented tamara dadswell. secondly, it's red! i'm so in love with it, i keep studying it in awe. i don't appear to have a link for tamara sadly, i'd love to see more of her work.

after being in an almost finished state for nearly a week, my stars for the holiday ornament swap. i'm not sure if these are meant to be a surprise for the people on my list, but hopefully they won't mind! i'm beginning to look forward to seeing what drops onto my doormat in the not-too-distant future and of course i'll keep you posted ;)
and alison, if you are reading this, i'm afraid i only got as far as cutting your stars out last night, to my eternal shame, the lure of 'i'm a celebrity' was too much and i was too distracted to concentrate...but i'll do them this weekend, i promise! :)

just a cheeky sneaky peeky at my holiday ornament swap pieces...not that they're on my mind or anything, but i suddenly woke up in the middle of the night thinking 'shit, gotta get them done, i've got a girl from australia on my list, when is the last date for posting?!' you'd think i'd relax whilst asleep, but no, sadly not. anyway, after sleeping on it, i decided my ornaments weren't all bad and that i'm going to give myself a break.
