white space...

this is my current favourite part of the house, despite the fact i've done nothing with it except had it painted white. (and actually out of shot are half packed/clothes strewn boxes, for this is my 'dressing room' {yes, really - originally sam's childhood bedroom, how spoilt am i?!} and i haven't got wardrobes yet)

BUT there's this little restful space in amongst all the crap, with a view of meadows, surrounded by white, and if i try really hard, i can pretend my whole house is an oasis of calm like this and not a chaos of farm toys, dirty clothes waiting to be washed, clean clothes waiting to be ironed, and piles of dirty dishes.

You are not alone - trust me!

I person I met a while back put my life in some perspective when she said she had 2 jobs -- she was MUM from wakeup time to school drop off time and school pick up time to bed time. Washing, ironing, cleaning etc... is done when she is doing her MUM job. The time in between - say 9 till 3 is HER time and she does what she wants then - and usually that didn't include any housework. I have followed her advice for a few months now and I'm getting a lot more chilled about accepting the crap that hangs around some days. It gets dealt with eventually.

i dreeeeaaam of a calm space all to myself. as we get closer to moving into our new house, this cramped, noisy, messy flat is beginning to do my head in.

Hello!
Loving the white space too. We started out that way and kept it for ages, but things are creeping onto the walls, and I can't resist yet another vintage scandinavian chair, so they're starting to line the walls. unhh...

Thanks much for the IKEA offer, btw. I don't dare start...

Love the white and the view! oh and your lovely sach window... Been thinking for a while about re-painting every wall in white, this is definitely encouraging me to go for it (when I can find the time!). I have the same problem with stuff lying around everywhere and I don't even have kids hmmm :)
