brum brum

so, last thursday was a little bit exciting...i received a phone call from my mum when i was scraping carrots for tea...she asked me if i was sitting down...which of course i wasn't...she faffed around (like only my mum can) before telling me that our quilt gloryholes sorry i mean portholes, had won the 'group quilt' category at the festival of quilts at birmingham NEC! i screamed, she screamed, we both screamed. it was a scream fest.
i've more to say about the show, but will wait til i've taken some pretty pictures of the fabrics i bought, hmmmm, *drool*. i saw some old chums, met some awesome new ones...it was a terrific couple of days, and was particularly nice spending time with me muvver without someone with sticky fingers demanding our attention, and that's just my husband, hohoho.

*note: although mum and i were thrilled and honoured to be winners, i was slightly less than impressed with the dingy area the quilt was hung - the lighting was appalling...(god that makes me sound horrible, but i'm being honest)

I found a post on your progress on this quilt recently and loved it - also saw photos of your other quilt on Flickr and have been eagerly checking out all photos of the FoQ show as they've been loaded up on Flickr (by lucky quilters who went to the show)
Well done on such super success - it's deserved on such a work or art
Looking forward to hearing more of all the goings on at the show.

Aw Lu, very belated congratulations to both you and your mum. It is a stunning quilt - lots of work went into it, and I'm sure it was a very worthy winner. Wish I'd got to see it in the flesh. x
