packages...

it's been a bit quiet on the blog front because i'm frantically making orders for door plaques for not on the high street. they are now all packaged up (done whilst cooking last night's dinner, i'm getting good at multi-tasking, but then, i am a woman) and ready to be enjoyed by the recipients. i hope. i never stop worrying that people will hate what i've done, or i'll have made an obvious spelling mistake...actually i'm going to stop worrying now, otherwise i'll be ripping open all these packets to check. off to stop obsessing, and for some breakfast. happy saturday chaps, i've got a lovely day of making...the kids are off making a bonfire for tomorrow night's farm firework display. woohoo. (frank doesn't want a guy, i think he's a little freaked out by the idea of putting a 'person' to burn on the bonfire...actually, i see his point ;)

hello, my friends, hello

ola! i am back from the most wonderful relaxing time staying with friends in portugal, i haven't done a stroke of work and didn't feel guilty at all! i did check my emails everyday though, which was perhaps a bit of a mistake...but i just couldn't help it...the laptop was just there, connected to the internet. it seemed rude not to.

however, i've been home for 4 hours and reality has well and truly hit me. the notonthhighstreet.com christmas catalogue was sent out with 'home and gardens' magazine this month and a piece of mine is in it, so the orders have started to come in, i've had nine this week. so, i'd better get on with it i suppose!

oh, thanks to those of you who emailed/convo-d/left me a message to let me know i was on the front page of etsy today, what a lovely homecoming. sadly, i missed it. typical!

make it personal...

i sometimes talk about my work that i sell through notonthehighstreet, i think of it as my 'commercial' work. while i enjoy making it, there's not any room for experimentation. anyway, i just thought i'd show you my best-selling product, (and only product right now!) called 'this is my room' door plaque. it's currently in the notonthehighstreet.com christmas catalogue, which is rather exciting. they went out with the october issues of 'homes and gardens' magazine (or actually it could be 'house and garden', i can't remember ;) i've got a few ideas for pushing this idea further actually, so more news on that in the months (or maybe years...hehe) to come.

ever had one of those weird days...

when you feel you have accomplished nothing but have actually cleared up a few jobs hanging over your head? i finished this wedding sampler order today, it's the first one i've done in this colourway, it's called 'amish' and it looks really great framed in it's white box frame. i'm also really pleased because i didn't think i'd get it done for the customer to take to the wedding this weekend (she knew this and ordered it anyway) but i did, yay! i hate letting people down, so this has made me very happy. i've also managed to get a piece of work done for an etsy-related secret swap organised by charlotte. i really, really hope the person i've made this for likes their package...i've steered clear of her likes and dislikes, so fingers crossed :)

i got me some moo!

yay! after the problems i had the other week with trying to order my moo cards, they have arrived. talk about great service. god knows what i'm seeing on my monitor though, cos although these are fine for what i want (hanging on the back of my noths work) the colours are somewhat muted. i'm glad i trialed them, i want to get more with the nahcotta and birmingham quilts on, and with this superfast service, i'll get them in time for the festival of quilts and i will moo everyone in sight! got some stickers on the way, can't wait. oh dear, what a loser.

i really, really want some moo cards using the above images, but due to a weird glitch in somebody's system, i can't seem to get any further than personalising them. this has happened so many times, i just can't be bothered to try again. i'm not sure if i just haven't any patience today, but i swear if i start to position that little viewfinder once more on the same photo i'm gonna scream. perhaps tomorrow i will be calm enough to try again. i just want them to send out with my not on the high street goods to try and make myself a little more 'branded', and not in the sense of searing my backside with a red-hot poker.

interruptions

just as i settled down to start a serious amount of binding last night, (saturday night i just couldn't be bothered although i did have an enjoyable evening deciding on what colour silks to bind the paper quilts in whilst watching a million 'csi' type thingies on the box) i was interrupted by my email alert dodah going off and discovered i'd got an order for a wedding sampler and a baby's name plaque. isn't it weird how it never rains but it pours? so anyway that's what i've been up to. between working and getting stressed with the kids, (it's the first day of the holidays, how am i going to cope for 7 weeks?!) it's been an eventful day.
