pinboard

i received an email a while back from a lovely lady called julie who has bought a lot of my work over the last little while. she was wondering whether i'd be interested in making a pin board for her kitchen. she thought perhaps i could print the background in the same colours as the pink print i did for my moo cards. of course i can, i told her, and eagerly printed the fabric for the background and went out and bought the right sized notice board...but despite the fact i painted the frame, it still looked like a cheap and nasty cork notice board. so i contacted my lovely friend anna who happens to be a frame maker. she made a beautiful frame for me (in budget, yay!) and after painting it to match julie's kitchen, it's looking pretty damn funky, if i do say so myself. and no, you're not going mad, the above pic is before painting the frame, i sent it to julie to show her what it looked like unpainted. i love it when a plan comes together. i also hate it when a plan doesn't come together, but that story is for another time...

crikey, this is post 130!

just thought i'd drop in and let the world know that 'reflect' is up for sale in the shop. and to tell you i really hope this is the red obsession out of my system. i just can't help it...especially with pale pink. and dark grey. and with white, oh god, especially with white. anyhoo, i'm going to ban myself from doing anything in that particular colour for ohhhhhh, at least a week. 'kay?

when, where, which, what

i should be cooking right now, and indeed things are probably burning to a crisp as i type...but i wanted to get this done straight away, because when i get in my mind i have to do something, i drop everything else. horrible, inconvenient habit really. anyway...i've been playing with fabric, paper and paint today and created this mixed media 'sketch' called 'when, where, which, what'. the pretty fabric is an old charity shop find- a hankie for 20p! oh crap.....there's a distinct smell of singed sausages...gotta dash...!

ever had one of those weird days...

when you feel you have accomplished nothing but have actually cleared up a few jobs hanging over your head? i finished this wedding sampler order today, it's the first one i've done in this colourway, it's called 'amish' and it looks really great framed in it's white box frame. i'm also really pleased because i didn't think i'd get it done for the customer to take to the wedding this weekend (she knew this and ordered it anyway) but i did, yay! i hate letting people down, so this has made me very happy. i've also managed to get a piece of work done for an etsy-related secret swap organised by charlotte. i really, really hope the person i've made this for likes their package...i've steered clear of her likes and dislikes, so fingers crossed :)

tote-ally tote-tastic

i unearthed these bags form my workroom today, they were made for a demonstration thing i did last year at the festival of quilts. i'm fed up with my boring bag, so i'll be using one of these instead, just in time for the sun has actually begun to shine :) the linen one is made from a really nice pair of my husband's trousers - he asked me to repair a ripped seam but sadly the damage was too great for me to rectify, but i made some spankin' bags instead. needless to say, my husband was very pissed off. i, on the other hand was thrilled to bits! (oh yeah, in the background of the bag pics is the infamous blu-shed...so now you know what it looks like...it's blue and it's a shed, and i have just noticed a big smear of bird crap in the top left hand corner of each pic. delightful.)
