hexagon and star quilt progress

things have been a little bit crazy around here - so many on the go projects, lots of exciting things coming up in casa summers...3 that are so mind blowingly exciting i can't wait to share!

in the meantime, here's more quilt progress. i've not only neglected this blog but my poor quilt that was started in such a fit of excitement almost a month ago has been left abandoned in a pile. i've done so much computer stuff lately that i wanted a break from it, and this is perfect. so by the end of the half term break, this little beauty is going to be not only all 'starred' it's going to be pieced together too. i'm determined. (i decided that entering 4 quilts in to festival of quilts was madness, so i was kind to myself and i'm just entering this one.)

i've got a few other bits to share, but i'll save all that for later. have a great weekend! x

me and my mum

so, the festival of quilts is occupying most of my waking thoughts lately, but the quilts i'm making on my own are under control, i know exactly what i'm doing with both of them. i've entered into the 'group quilts' category with mum to make us stop talking vaguely about doing a quilt together but to force us to...so a few experiments have ensued, using my brightly coloured printed fabrics from this flickr set and a bit of quilting (i don't really want to exactly say how we create this effect, it's sort of a thing i played with years ago and am recreating now...) and viola! another quilt sorted. except for the actual printed fabric. and the quilting. and y'know, deciding on a design and size. and did i mention the entry form needs to be completed by next week? with the dimensions and all other relevant information? and did i happen to say that my mum is away right now, and as soon as she gets home we're off on our hols too? oh crap, how do i get myself into these situations...?!

b,d,h&l are tall letters

orange and brown for today. and yesterday i did speak too soon, this was a pain in the ar*e. it has been reworked, unpicked, reworked again to get here. now i like it. it's quite simple and that's what works with these pieces. right, onward and upward...

i've got a very stroppy kid. frank has finished pre-school today and has come home with a tiger painted face which he keeps forgetting. he then wipes his face and smudges it, then gets upset cos it's all coming off, starts to cry, his nose then runs and we have rivers of snot and tears and tiger face is no more. yuck.
