an advent calendar of a different kind...

i was thrilled to be asked to take part in stephanie's a studio with a view blog as part of her 'artist advent calendar'. if you don't already know about this, do take a peek at the other artist contributions,(click here to see them so far) she's got a fantastic selection of cool people sharing recipes, pictures and arty crafty ideas. it's a lovely look into people's lives and holiday traditions around the globe. you can see my red and white themed contribution if you click here.

now seems like a good time to say 'see you later' for the year - i'm getting busier with school/kids related things and working out stuff to do when the boys break up next week. we've got a busy time ahead with friends and outings, so i think i'll say ta ta for now, hope you have a wonderful holiday season wherever you are in the world. thanks so much for all the comments i receive - i read and laugh and love each and every one, and feel bad that i don't always reply to them. happy new year, and see you in 2010! artstream & notebook giveaway

i was contacted by susan of artstream studios a few months back asking me to take part in an exhibition called 'the incredible print show'. i had a screen made from a drawing i did a while back called plantlife. i used my weave design as a abstact background then printed over the top with the new screen. finally i added these large circles - the colours that come through because of the layering are really pleasing. i did 6 of them, all similar but in different colourways. it was really refreshing to print in this way and i've decided to do more of it when i have time.

i have spent today clearing up the bombsite that is my studio - it's funny how you can work while a mountain of crap dwarfs you, then all of a sudden it really pisses you off and you can't do another thing until it's sorted and tidy, despite the one million other things you have to do. weird. (including big!!! news, but i can't reveal it yet...oh, the suspense!)

on a different subject, if you've ever wanted one of my notebooks but you haven't got around to ordering one or you'd like one but frankly you think they're too overpriced and you're a tight wad, fear not! visit the tea for joy blog for a chance of winning one. and i'll even post overseas. because i'm nice like that. or stupid.

more nice words today at freshly blended, and another limited edition printed sketchbook called moss available at the shop. on a random note, the sun shone briefly today through the rain which made it a happy monday for about 30 seconds :)

two pieces of nice blog posting this week, firstly from a new find for me, dear ada, which is a brilliant blog full of really interesting arty finds, i have bookmarked it for regular reading. the other is from the ever wonderful print + pattern. interestingly, they've both chosen to showcase my black and white drawings...anyway, as always, i'm thrilled and honoured to be featured on such high quality blogs, thank you both!
